Brass Nataraja Lord Shiva Statue – 5.8 Inch Handcrafted Brass Idol
This magnificently handcrafted Brass Nataraja Lord Shiva Statue captures one of the most iconic and philosophically profound images in all of Hindu art — Lord Shiva performing his cosmic Ananda Tandava (dance of bliss) within a large circular Prabhamandala (ring of fire/Agni Mandala), adorned with flame tips and intricate decorative scrollwork all around the ring’s circumference. In this supreme form, Lord Shiva’s upper right hand holds the Damaru (hourglass drum) — the primordial sound of creation; his upper left hand holds Agni (fire) — the force of destruction and transformation; his lower right hand is raised in Abhaya Mudra (gesture of protection and grace); and his lower left hand points gracefully downward toward his raised left foot in Gajahasta Mudra, indicating liberation (Moksha) to the devotee. His right leg stands firmly upon the prostrate figure of Apasmara Purusha (the demon of ignorance, forgetfulness, and ego), while his left leg is raised high in the dynamic dance kick (Bhujangatrasita), symbolising the transcendence of the material world. He is adorned with a tall Jata Mukuta (matted hair crown) with a crescent moon, large earrings, necklaces, armlets, a waistband, and a flowing dhoti — all mounted on a beautifully ornate multi-tiered square base. The Nataraja form is one of the most celebrated representations of Lord Shiva in South Indian temple art, particularly associated with the Chidambaram Nataraja Temple in Tamil Nadu, and is considered a masterpiece of Hindu iconography representing the five cosmic acts of Shiva: creation, preservation, destruction, concealment, and liberation. Crafted from premium quality brass with a rich antique golden finish, this substantial statue weighs approximately 470 grams with dimensions of 5.8 inch (H) × 4.5 inch (L) × 2.2 inch (B).
